Yixuan and Friends" Concert Series - "The Dream Reader

Program Characteristics

The concert series "Yixuan and Friends" is centered on the American pianist Yixuan Cheng, who invites a number of Taiwanese musicians to collaborate and regularly performs themed concerts with chamber music as the main theme. This concert, "The Dream Reader", is inspired by Haruki Murakami's novel "The End of the World and the Cold and Strange Realm". The "Dream Reader", who is at the end of the world, lives in the "street" surrounded by a high wall, and reads those ancient dreams from the skulls of the unicorns, just as a musician reads the composer's mind every day in his notes, and puts in his best effort to interpret these beautiful and touching ancient dreams, even if the world comes to an end, without a care in the world. Even when the world has come to an end, there is no turning back.
